Planning Scheme Amendment C417 has been prepared by the City of Melbourne, implementing the land use and built form objectives of the Macaulay Structure Plan 2021. The proposed Amendment was considered by Future Melbourne Committee on June 14 2022. Following on from the Arden-Macaulay Structure Plan 2012, the Macaulay Structure Plan 2021 incorporates improved approaches to managing land use, density and built form, and reflects revised population forecasts, new approaches to flood mitigation and the construction of the Metro Tunnel.
- In line with community feedback, the Macaulay Structure Plan 2021 seeks to provide:
- greater certainty about development in the area
- a mix of homes, local businesses and community facilities that keep pace with a growing population
- well-connected streets that encourage walking and cycling
- more open space and green streets
- a climate ready precinct.
