Seafarers Rest Park

City of Melbourne is working in partnership with the Victorian Government and private property developer Riverlee, to create a new public park at Seafarers Rest in Docklands.

Seafarers Rest is an existing public open space earmarked for renewal in the City of Melbourne's Open Space Strategy, and was identified as a key public space in the Docklands Public Realm Plan.

Seafarers Rest is located on the north bank of the Yarra River, between The Mission to Seafarers heritage building and the Seafarers Bridge. Wharf and crane restoration works in the area have required the site to be mostly fenced off. In the coming months the site will host the temporary installation of a sales office.

We are working with the Department of Treasury and Finance and Riverlee to guide and shape a concept for the new park, and are seeking community input to inform the park s design brief.

Engagement summary and analysis report available

Thanks to everyone who took part in our consultation late last year about a new park at Seafarers Rest in Docklands.

Almost 1000 people took part in an online survey and face-to-face engagement, which helped us better understand the community s interest and ideas. The park's design brief will now be updated to reflect your feedback as well as the results of technical site analysis currently being undertaken. As part of stage two community consultation we will present a park concept design for comment.

A detailed engagement summary and analysis report is available below.
