Since 2017, the Coming Back Out Ball has addressed social isolation, ageism, homophobia and transphobia by celebrating Melbourne’s LGBTIQ+ elders.
The Coming Out Ball has wowed audiences with performances by acclaimed artists including the world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma in 2019.
The project has attracted international attention, with a media campaign reaching more than 10 million and reviews in the New York Times and the Guardian, showcasing our city as a world leader in championing the social rights of ageing LGBTIQ+ people.
