Getting immunised in the City of Melbourne

Immunisation helps protect children and adults against harmful infections by using the body’s natural defence mechanism – the immune response – to build resistance to specific infections.

Immunisation also helps you stay healthy by preventing serious diseases in the first place.

Shingrix and Mpox vaccinations are now available.
                    Flu vaccines are now available.

                    Online booking system

Bookings are essential and are now available for our community sessions as well as for our newest service: individual appointments in selected locations.

Initially you will need to register your details and then add in your children or dependants requiring immunisation.

Please note we offer paid vaccines at community sessions and individual appointments. Online payments only via VaxApp booking system.

                    By using VaxApp, you can:

                    • Book and manage individual and family appointments online.
                    • Provide digital consent during the booking process, which reduces onsite administration at your appointment, and reduces paper usage.
                    • Receive reminders to book future appointments when you or your child is due for their next vaccines.

If you need help making an appointment, email our immunisation team: immunisation@melbourne.vic.gov.au or phone 0417 219 089.

Are there any side effects to immunisation?

Common side effects of immunisation are redness and soreness at the site of an injection and mild fever. More serious reactions to immunisation are very rare, but if they do occur please consult a doctor immediately.

Specific side effects to each vaccine will be discussed with you prior to immunisation.

Vaccines are safer than the diseases they prevent.

Also, it is recommended you stay 15 minutes after the vaccination to ensure you or your child leaves in good health.

If you are concerned about any reaction post immunisation contact us at immunisation@melbourne.vic.gov.au one of our experienced nurses will be able to assist.
