                    COVID-19 business grants

                    We recognise these are tough times, and that local businesses are facing unique challenges during COVID-19. 

                    As part of our ongoing support for the business community, and in partnership with the Victorian Government, we’re delivering a number of grant programs to help support the safe reopening of our local businesses.

                    All our business grant programs are now closed and some successful recipients of the Small business reactivation grants have now been contacted. More recipients will be announced in November.

                    In response to the pandemic, we’ve partnered with the Victorian Government to deliver a $100 million Melbourne City Recovery Fund. This furthers our initial $50 million COVID-19 economic package and our ongoing $10 million package to support inner-city businesses.

                    ​Past grants programs

                    • Small business reactivation grants: Delivered in partnership with the Victorian Government, the reactivation grants helped cover the cost of outdoor dining and support the safe reopening of our local businesses. In October 2020 we awarded more than $8 million in grants, and will deliver further grants in November.  
                    • Small business transformation grants: Designed to support 'bricks and mortar' businesses impacted by decreased foot-traffic in inner-city areas, we partnered with the Victorian Government to offer $8 million in grants for small to medium sized businesses to adapt to COVID-19 restrictions and physical distancing requirements. In September 2020 we awarded $1.6 million in initial grants. 
                    • Quick response business grants 2020 (COVID-19 support): As part of our economic support package for city businesses, we offered $5 million in grants for small to medium sized businesses and non-profit organisations to invest in online and e-commerce capabilities, take part in training and professional development, and undertake capital works. These grants are now closed and were announced between April and June 2020.
