                    Amendment C305: Southbank Heritage

                    Amendment C305 implemented the recommendations of the Southbank Heritage Review, 2017, updated November 2020, by applying the Heritage Overlay to fifteen additional places.

                    ​About the amendment

                    City of Melbourne prepared Amendment C305 to build on existing planning controls and protect additional heritage places in Southbank and South Wharf. 

                    The amendment implements the recommendations from the Southbank Heritage Review 2017, updated 2020. It includes amending the Schedule to Clause 43.01 Heritage Overlay to introduce 15 additional heritage places, delete the heritage overlay from 12 places and amend the heritage overlay for 16 existing places.

                    Amendment C305 was placed on public exhibition from 24 May to 29 July 2018. A Panel hearing was held to consider the amendment and all submissions from 13 to 24 July 2020. The Panel issued their report on 4 September 2020. Council adopted Amendment C305 with changes on 15 December 2020.

                    Current status

                    Amendment C305 has been approved by the Minister for Planning. Notice of approval of Amendment C258 was published in the Government Gazette on 23 April 2021.

                    The amendment now forms part of the Melbourne Planning Scheme. The approved amendment is available at the Amendment C305 page of the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning's Browse Amendments website.
