What's on City of Melbourne

About Melbourne Conversations

The City of Melbourne’s free talks series (re)connects Melburnians to their community through discussion, commentary and participation on vital issues and ideas. We seek to engage with challenging ideas and influence Melbourne’s intellectual culture, creativity, liveability, and sustainability.

Each year Melbourne Conversations presents at city venues, including Deakin Edge at Federation Square and Melbourne Town Hall. The event format varies from a forum of experts and audience questions and answers, to more informal conversations through lectures and more intimate conversations presented at smaller venues.

Forthcoming Melbourne Conversations

Melbourne Conversations program

The program is a combination of events curated either by the Program Manager, an invited guest curator or in collaboration with invited partners.

Themes and topics are researched and conversations developed in response to issues and interests that impact Melburnians and reflect the City of Melbourne’s goals. Themes are also sought from invited curators for our guest curator series. The program also presents partnership projects.

The development and delivery of the program is informed by:

  • supporting organisations and venues
  • engagement and collaboration with diverse communities and speakers
  • responsiveness to issues that impact upon the culture and fabric of the city.

Please note that Melbourne Conversations does not provide grants.
