The Local Law will take effect from 4 April 2024.
The objectives of the Local Law are to:
- provide for the peace, order and good government of the City of Melbourne
- control, protect and conserve the environment
- control, protect and maintain the amenity of the municipality
- provide standards and conditions for certain activities in relation to the physical and visual environment within the municipality
- adopt, apply and ensure compliance with the Council’s Environment Management Plan.
The existing Environment Local Law 2019 is revoked effective from 4 April 2024.
