Enrolments and upgrades

Enrolments for the aquatic education program can be made at any stage throughout the swimming term via email or in person at the Melbourne City Baths (with the exception of adult water familiarisation applicants, who are required to enrol before or during the first week of the aquatic education term). Classes are booked on a first come first served basis.

Payments are organised on a monthly direct debit schedule and enrolments can only be taken when payment is received. Students are automatically re-enrolled for successive terms to ease the process. Children will be enrolled in the same class for the following term unless they have been upgraded by their instructor. All direct debit members are entitled to free swimming outside lesson times to practice what they have learnt.

Changing classes

Aquatic education is a progressive program which means students may be upgraded to the next level at any stage throughout the term. If the student is demonstrating competency in all skills of their current level, the instructor will issue them with an ‘upgrade slip’. This needs to be presented to reception staff to change classes for the following term.

Please note: Melbourne City Baths follows industry guidelines of pupil to instructor ratios, so upgrades can only occur if spaces are available.

Stopping payments/classes

A period of one month's written notice must be provided prior to the end of the current aquatic education term. The Customer may cancel their membership by completing a customer amendment form or by contacting us by email. Failure to notify Melbourne City Baths will result in your scheduled direct debit payment being charged.

Missed Class Policy

If you miss a class you must provide a medical certificate to be eligible for a family swim pass.

Please note we do not offer make up class or refunds for missed lessons.

For any questions regarding our missed class policy, please speak with a leisure services officer at reception.
