An inspiring creative arts studio for children and their families

ArtPlay is owned and operated by the City of Melbourne. It is Australia’s only arts centre especially for children up to the age of 13. The centre is located at Birrarung Marr, behind Federation Square.

Since 2004, ArtPlay has offered children and artists a unique opportunity to imagine, explore and create art together. The centre invites experienced artists from both traditional and emerging or experimental arts backgrounds. Children and their families – whether residents of Melbourne, students or visitors – come to ArtPlay to meet with these artists and explore their creative side.

Parents and teachers have as much fun as the young participants. Parents especially enjoy the chance to connect creatively with their children.

Bookings: The ArtPlay lottery

We love having you at ArtPlay, and we know you love being a part of our world. We especially know how much you love ArtPlay on the day bookings open for new workshops. As competition for workshop bookings has been increasing, we've been thinking up a new way to take bookings that gives everyone a chance to join in. View details of the New booking process.
