Event permits

Event in Alexandra GardensPlanning and event or activity  Melbourne’s public spaces

Whether you are organising a public or a private event, if it occurs in any of Melbourne’s public spaces you need to get an event permit. This ensures public safety and amenity in Melbourne’s public spaces and assists in the sustainable management of our parks and gardens.

Every year more than 8000 events are held in Melbourne. Public events include fun runs, music and arts events, corporate promotional activities, parades, community days and outdoor broadcasts. Private events, like weddings, corporate functions and parties are also held in our parks and laneways.
