What permits do I need?

Certain tasks require council permits. If you plan to do any of the following in your business, you’ll need a permit.

• Advertise your business using flyers or signs on the street or a person standing outside your business
• Construct or build anything or make plans to do so
• Place anything on a footpath
• Block or open up a roadway
• Park in permit zones
• Operate a food business
• Operate a healthcare business
• Operate a tattoo parlour or a body piercing studio
• Operate a hairdressing or beauty therapy business
• Operate a boarding house, hotel or motel 
• Use a rubbish skip
• Hold an event in a public place
• Sell anything from a stall on the street or at an event or festival
• Drive a horse-drawn vehicle
• Film in public
• Paint street art on a wall
• Street entertainment (busking) – involving music, street art or a circle act
• Run a sports event or use a sports ground
