Licensees Forum

The Melbourne Licensees Forum gives licensees operating within the heart of Melbourne the chance to meet and discuss issues of concern to them with local authorities and with each other.

The forum is attended by representatives from the City of Melbourne, Victoria Police, Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Australian Hotels Association and Liquor Licensing Victoria.

Why should I join?

Being a member of the forum gives you the opportunity to:

  • build relationships with local authorities
  • develop networks in the industry
  • receive training and support
  • advocate for issues affecting licensed venues.

Who can join?

Membership is open to all licensees in the City of Melbourne. Membership of the forum is a voluntary commitment and there are no membership fees. Membership is granted on a 12 month basis.

When nominating to become a member of the forum, venues are required to demonstrate their adherence to a number of criteria around safety and security, service and responsibilities. To help achieve membership, venues are given support to improve their management practices and systems, promote responsible standards of behaviour among patrons and create a safe environment for patrons and staff.

When does the forum meet?

Meetings focused on specific issues are held every three months. Issues covered include:

  • security management
  • emergency management
  • patron behaviour
  • drink spiking
  • smoking bans.

In addition to these issues, each meeting includes an open forum, as well as dedicated time for informal networking.

Where does the forum meet?

The meetings rotate venues and are hosted by the licensees themselves.

Melbourne Licensees City Safety Summit
