Low Carbon Australia
Low Carbon Australia has been established by the Australian Government as an independent company with over $100 million initial funding.
Low Carbon Australia provides financial solutions and advice to Australian business, government and the wider community to encourage action on energy efficiency, cost-effective carbon reductions, and accreditation for carbon neutral products and organisations.
Tax Breaks for Green Buildings
From 1 July 2012, businesses that invest in eligible assets or capital works to improve the energy efficiency of their existing buildings – from 2 stars or lower to 4 stars or higher – will be able to apply for a one-off bonus tax deduction.
The incentive will enable businesses to claim a bonus tax deduction of 50 per cent of the cost of the eligible assets or capital works.
Smart Water Fund
The Smart Water Fund provides grants to individuals, community groups and businesses to undertake water saving projects. It is a joint program of the Victorian government and Victorian water suppliers.
Sustainability Fund
The Sustainability Fund has provided more than $60 million in funding to encourage the environmentally sustainable use of resources and best practice in waste management. It was established by the Victorian government.
Sustainable investment opportunities wanted
Sustainable Melbourne Fund is seeking new opportunities to invest in local sustainability projects particularly in the areas of water, energy and waste; business ventures and new technologies that deliver environmental and economic benefits.
What are we looking for?
The fund is interested in hearing from Melbourne organisations and businesses who have ideas for sustainability projects that meet the following investment criteria:
- deliver clear environmental benefits and contribute to sustainability in the City of Melbourne
- provide a proven business case for investing in water, energy and waste efficiency
- demonstrate the application of new, clean technologies
- enhance alliances and development opportunities with other organisations and the private sector who are committed to the principles of sustainable development
- help overcome financial barriers to implementation of sustainability initiatives.
Sustainable Melbourne Fund Board of Trustees
Sustainable Melbourne Fund operates as a unit trust, with an independent board of trustees appointed to manage the strategic direction and all investment activities of the fund.
