About the board

Chaired by Lord Mayor Robert Doyle, and comprising business leaders from across key sectors of the city economy including hospitality, manufacturing, finance and biotechnology, the Enterprise Melbourne Board will provide high-level guidance to Enterprise Melbourne.

The Enterprise Melbourne Board will guide the city in five key areas:

  • increasing business capability, expertise, innovation and entrepreneurship to make the city a desirable location for business and investment
  • encouraging export and international connections – helping Melbourne businesses consider new markets and encourage inbound business and investment
  • commissioning research and information that will help promote Melbourne as a business and investment location
  • building Melbourne’s business community and creating collaboration opportunities between Melbourne businesses
  • forming economic alliances between council and other levels of government and industry associations. 

Enterprise Melbourne Board members are:

  • Syd Bone, Deputy Chairman of the Australian Centre for Financial Studies
  • Margaret Bounader, Australian Trade Commission
  • William (Bill) Fisher, Head of Melbourne Office of Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Professor Margaret Gardner AO, Vice Chancellor at RMIT University
  • Leigh Harry, CEO Tourism Victoria
  • Andrew Macdonald, the BioMelbourne Network
  • Brendan McClements, Chief Executive of event acquisition and development business, the Victorian Major Events Company
  • Jan Owen AM, CEO, Foundation For Young Australians
  • Tim Piper, Director, Victoria Branch, Australian Industry Group
  • Ms Susan Renouf, Strategic Management Consultant, Renouf and Associates
  • Carol Schwartz AM, Business and property executive and current President of the Melbourne International Arts Festival
  • Mark Stone, CEO of VECCI, Australia’s largest state Chamber of Commerce
  • Darryl Washington, Australian Hotels Association
  • Aaron Wood, Prime Minister’s 2007 Environmentalist of the Year, former Young Australian of the Year and Director of environmental communications firm, Firestarter.
