Council budget 2010–11

The City of Melbourne’s budget for 2011–12 proposes a rate rise of just 1.65 per cent, and allocates $107.3 million towards enhancing and building new infrastructure. The budget also proposes $10.8 million towards stage 2 of the Swanston Street redevelopment between Bourke and Little Bourke streets, Collins and Little Collins streets and Franklin and A’Beckett streets. World Disaster Experts to meet in Melbourne

Melbourne has won the right to host the Thematic World Congress on Human Factors in Crises and Disaster Interventions 2013.

Hosted by the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the congress is expected to attract more than 1,500 delegates, generating an economic impact in excess of $6 million for the State of Victoria.

Symposium sees Melbourne cement ICT status

A meeting of the world’s leading experts on circuits and systems has been secured for Melbourne, cementing the city’s reputation for innovation in nanotechnology, micro-technologies and research and development.

Melbourne grows presence in China

China is forecast to become Victoria’s largest tourism market in 2014, and is one of our fastest growing markets for incentive travel.
