Melbourne's time zone favourably overlaps the normal business hours of most Asia–Pacific nations and trading partners. It is also located midpoint between Europe and the United States, making Melbourne an ideal location for 'round the clock' work.
Melbourne Airport
Melbourne Airport offers non-stop or direct services to most major business capitals in the Asia–Pacific region. It is the gateway through which many people arrive in Melbourne, especially those who are visiting for business purposes.
Daily international flights to the United States, Europe and Asia all leave from Melbourne – Australia's major 24-hour curfew-free airport. 24 hour operation, combined with a single terminal precinct, provides greater scheduling flexibility for airlines.
The airport underwent a $330 million international terminal expansion which was the largest privately funded construction project in Victoria. The project was conducted in portions, in order to cause the least disruption possible to the public during construction.
The airport is well supported by taxis and the SkyBus rapid link bus service between Melbourne Airport and the city, which runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The average trip takes 20 minutes and transfers to or from city hotels can be arranged free of charge for SkyBus users.
This service also supports Greenfleet, a non-profit organisation that offsets greenhouse gas emissions produced by Australian transport, so SkyBus is also working to reduce travellers’ greenhouse gas emissions.
