The Business Partner Cities (BPC) network aims to facilitate the promotion of business interaction within the Asia–Pacific region, contributing to mutual economic development of each member city. In particular, its aim is to create opportunities for small- to medium-sized enterprises to establish links with their counterparts throughout the network.
In 1999, the City of Melbourne joined the BPC network seeking to build stronger business links between Melbourne enterprises and business and investment links with Asia–Pacific’s most dynamic and influential business cities.
Activities that occur under the banner of BPC include:
- exchange between peak business and investment organisations of member cities
- business missions to member cities, targeting small- and medium-sized companies
- promotion of international business between companies located in BPC member cities
- information exchange on economic development matters including infrastructure issues affecting business in each of the BPC member cities.
