                    Filming in Melbourne

                    Boats at Docklands
Melbourne is well known around the world as a film friendly city, offering a diversity of locations, from bustling streetscapes to parklands, waterways and harbours.

The city is also home to the Docklands Studios Melbourne, featuring the very latest in filmmaking technology. The studios include five purpose-built sound-stages with adjacent make-up and dressing rooms, production offices and holding bays.

                    Parks and gardens

Melbourne’s parks and gardens have provided an atmospheric setting for many major international productions, including Dogfight, The Leftovers, Offspring, The Wrong Girl, Dr Blake, Newtons Law, House Husbands, MasterChef and The Block.

There is a green network of more than 560 hectares covering open spaces, floral displays, numerous tree-lined pathways, ponds and fountains.

                    Waterfront

Melbourne can be seen from a different angle from the water with city views, riverside parks, historic buildings and bridges and rowing sheds. The Docklands is the best place to see the city lit up at night.

                    Streets and laneways

Central Melbourne has 15 distinct precincts, each with its own character and style. Chinatown, the Greek Precinct, the 'Paris end' of Collins Street and Little Italy (Lygon Street) provide an international flavour, and there are theatres, galleries, markets and cafés located throughout the streets of the city.

Melbourne has a network of laneways and arcades that sit between wide-open streets, shopping malls and skyscrapers.

We are proud to continue to facilitate a growing number of productions who choose Melbourne over other locations.

The benefits that filming bring to the city are abundant.
