                    Melbourne Knowledge Week

Connecting minds, creating change was the theme of this year’s Melbourne Knowledge Week, back for its seventh year with more than 60 interactive events dotted throughout Melbourne in venues as diverse as the city itself.

From Monday 2 May to Sunday 8 May 2016, the festival brought people together to grapple with the interconnected challenges and opportunities our city is facing today.

In this year's curated program delivered in partnership with the organisations best-placed to lead these conversations, you could see why accountants are working with coders in the botanical gardens, learn how augmented reality is changing neurosurgery and discover what the ‘big 3’ is and why it has got the city’s brightest data scientists scratching their heads.

Featured events included the Co-working Space Open Day, where more than 20 workplaces across the city threw open their doors, and the keynote address on the opportunities presented by the smart city of the future delivered by London-based thought leader Dan Hill. Meanwhile dozens of workshops explored UX design, data visualisation or cryptography and hackathons solved real problems for the benefit of a future Melbourne.

MKW 2016 offered the chance to connect with our knowledge sector’s most innovative ideas and thinkers to help co-create the city we want and need.
