Clare Price
ArtPlay presents the latest in the series of public Artist Learning Sessions, Clare Price on 'Drawing Together', a practical session exploring drawing as a tool for learning.
Clare is an arts education consultant from the UK, with more than 20 years experience as a practicing artist, lecturer, artist in schools and communities, and as a strategic manager. Most recently she worked as Head of Arts Development for ArtForms, a large arts service supporting more than 250 schools in Leeds.
She was responsible for creating innovative arts projects for pupils in collaboration with freelance artists and the arts and cultural sector. She is an experienced trainer and has led an extensive programme of professional development opportunities for teachers and artists. She is currently working with the Campaign for Drawing as a Regional Associate.
This PD session will include:
- A brief presentation to share some of the inspiring work from the ‘Campaign for Drawing’
- Practical activity using a variety of drawing strategies to explore the use of drawing as a tool for learning
- Consideration of both individual and collaborative approaches to drawing and how drawing can be used to engage children in other areas of learning such as literacy, music or science.
- Time for reflection and an opportunity to share ideas and experiences with other participants.
Refreshments will be provided and the session is suitable for all artists working with children and young people, and children's services professionals. Participants with an art background will gain new insights and approaches for their work. However, you do not need to be a visual artist or have prior experience of drawing to enjoy and benefit from the session.
Note: this will be a practical session, please wear old clothes or bring an apron.
