ArtPlay’s program for children and families aims to be challenging, creative, educational and meaningful.
By working with professional artists and educators, children can explore their own creativity and share unique artistic experiences.
The centre runs more than 300 workshops, events and performances every year. Simple and short creative workshops for young children sit alongside extended and sophisticated creative experiences for older children and parents. Workshop contents - and participants - reflect Melbourne’s diverse and intercultural make-up.
Artplay’s activities are either free or offered at affordable prices. They include weekend programs, school holiday activities, weekday school and pre-school programs and special programs run in conjunction with Melbourne events and festivals.
ArtPlay-produced activities
ArtPlay-produced programs are usually large and multi-dimensional. They appeal to a broad range of children and groups. Children may return each week to contribute to long-term projects, or they may expand their skills as they experiment with different aspects of one art form.
