Funding and partnerships

Artplay is funded by the City of Melbourne and several funding partners. The City of Melbourne’s continuing commitment to the provision of quality arts and cultural programs for children has seen ArtPlay’s budget grow.

The Sidney Myer Fund

The Sidney Myer Fund contributed to the establishment of the centre and continues to provide funding in a strong gesture of support for Melbourne’s creative future.

The Australia Council

The City of Melbourne and ArtPlay are assisted by the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body, the Australia Council.

The Cybec Foundation

ArtPlay acknowledges The Cybec Foundation’s continued support. With the help of this foundation, ArtPlay offers workshops and performances to schools and children from disadvantaged backgrounds for free.

The University of Melbourne and The Australian Research Council

The ArtPlay Research Project is made possible by a three-year Australian Research Council Linkage Grant between the Australia Council, the City of Melbourne and the University of Melbourne.

Through ArtPlay, you or your organisation could help create some amazing educational, artistic and playful experiences for the city’s children. If you would like to be involved, please contact us. A wide range of opportunities are waiting for you.

Enriching and unforgettable

ArtPlay is a wonderful concept brought to life by the combined support of the City of Melbourne, The Myer Foundation and the Sidney Myer Fund. Through its philanthropic endeavours, the Sidney and Merlyn Myer family has promoted creativity, innovation, tolerance and the fulfilment of potential for all in Australian society.

ArtPlay fulfils all the criteria of the Sidney Myer Fund’s Art and Humanities funding program, particularly for its focus on capacity building through its imaginative and innovative programming.

Children and their families come to this place of wonder, imagination and dreaming, where boundaries dissolve and a common purpose evolves. At ArtPlay, by working and playing together with a variety of professional artists and facilitators, children learn not only new artistic skills, but also new ways of thinking and the joy of teamwork and of shared outcomes.

An ArtPlay experience is enriching and unforgettable and one that no one should ever be denied.
