What's on City of Melbourne

Barbecues

Free public barbecues are located in many of the City of Melbourne’s parks and gardens.

No bookings are taken. The barbecues operate on a first-come first-served basis for small groups of less than 50 people. To see where barbecues are located in a City of Melbourne park and/or reserve, go to City of Melbourne Maps. Use the search tool or select ‘Parks and Activities’ on the side toolbar to find a barbecue.

You may take your own portable barbecue into the City of Melbourne Parks. Only gas operated barbecues and spit roast appliances are allowed. They must not be operated within 4.5 metres of  vegetation.

If you would like to have a barbecue for a group of over 50 people, please apply for a permit. For more details, please see Event Permit application form.

Call the City of Melbourne for more information.
