What's on City of Melbourne

Medical practitioner parking permits

The City of Melbourne issues parking permits to medical practitioners who visit selected inner city hospitals. These permits entitle them to park in specially reserved on-street parking areas close to these hospitals.

The reserved parking areas are usually immediately outside the hospital. The exception is the area near St Vincent’s Hospital, which is located on the city-bound lane of Victoria Parade. Medical practitioners who attend St Vincent’s and wish to park closer to the hospital should contact the Hospital Administrator for details of alternate parking.

Eligibility

Medical Practitioner parking permits are available to Medical Practitioners who visit hospitals that participate in the scheme:

  • Cliveden Hill
  • Freemason's Hospital
  • Mercy Hospital
  • Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute
  • Royal Victorian Eye and Ear
  • St Vincent’s - Public and Private

Upon receipt of your application, the Administration area of the participating hospital may be contacted for endorsement prior to any permit being issued.

Medical practitioner parking permits are not available for parking adjacent to consulting rooms not located at any of participating hospitals.

Cost

There is an administration fee of $110, including GST, per annum for the issue of a permit.

Conditions of issue

We will only issue one permit, per annum, per medical practitioner but up t three vehicles can be nominated on the one permit.

Permit expiry

Medical Practitioner parking permits are valid for 12 months from the date of issue.

Parking locations / concessions

A vehicle displaying a Medical Practitioner parking permit is allowed to park in spaces specially reserved for Medical Practitioners, which are usually found adjacent to the hospital. The only exception is the parking for St Vincent’s Hospital (Public and Private). This parking is located on the city bound lane of Victoria Parade.

The vehicle may remain there for as long as the parking signs allow. Should these areas change to another form of restricted parking, the vehicle may only stay in that area in accordance with that new restriction.
