Clean energy at home.  It’s easier than you think.

Delivering Clean Energy Solutions (DCES) is a community bulk buy program offering high quality clean energy solutions for your home.

DCES is available to residents of municipalities within the Northern Alliance for Greenhouse Action (NAGA) region, including Cities of Banyule, Darebin, Hume, Manningham, Melbourne, Moreland, Whittlesea, Yarra and Nillumbik Shire Council.

DCES is project managed by Moreland Energy Foundation in partnership with NAGA member councils, Yarra Energy Foundation and supported by the Victorian Government Sustainability Fund, managed by Sustainability Victoria.

During 2011, DCES aims to facilitate the purchase, installation and commissioning of clean energy solutions for 1,000 homes across northern metropolitan Melbourne, saving residents money and reducing greenhouse emissions by up to 2300 tonnes annually - the equivalent of taking almost 608 cars off the road.[1]

The first products being offered are solar PV (photovoltaic) panels and solar hot water systems.

Power-Mate

Want to know what your power usage is costing you and the environment?
Borrow a Power-Mate from the Melbourne Library Service and find out.

The Power-Mate consists of a hand-held meter which can be connected to any electronic appliance which measures the power in watts, voltage and current.

The meter can also tell you

  • the cost of running the appliance
  • how much energy the appliance used in kilowatt-hours
  • how many kilograms of greenhousegas emissions it produced

This device will help individuals become more aware of their energy consumption.

Melbourne Library Service has seven Power-Mates that are available for library members to borrow.  They may be borrowed for 7 days and are reservable.
Ask a staff member if one is available or collect your reserved Power-Mate from the library desk at any branch.
