Micro-chipping and registration provides a safeguard against losing pets.
Your pet must be micro-chipped before registration. The Lost Dog’s home offers a micro-chipping service or ask your local vet.
Micro-chipping and registration makes it easier to identify and return inpounded cats and dogs, which may save thousands of animals being euthanised because they can’t be identified.
If you have written notification from your vet that advises that your cat or dog’s health be adversely affected by the implantation of a micro-chip, you will be exempt from the micro-chipping requirement.

Micro-chip registers such as Centre Animal Records (CAR) and National Pet Register (NPR) also provide plastic tags. These tags are not City of Melbourne registration tags.
