Our Buildings
We’re designing our buildings to be more energy efficient and produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions. The East Melbourne Library and the Venny are both recently constructed examples.
We’re also retrofitting our existing buildings to make them more energy and water efficient. This program which is being applied to 13 of our most energy intensive buildings, will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1,560 tonnes (equivalent to taking 348 cars off the road) and save 11,791 kilo litres of water annually (equivalent to 52 Olympic swimming pools).
We’re increasing our expectations
All new commercial buildings in the City of Melbourne occupying over 5,000 square metres must now achieve a four-star Green Star rating for energy efficiency.
