What's on City of Melbourne

Water restrictions

Stage 1 water restrictions are in place across the Melbourne water supply system.

Stage 1 water restrictions help to save water while minimising impact on business and community sporting facilities.

Visit the Victorian Government's water website to find out what Stage 1 water restrictions mean for your home or business.

Penalties

Stage 1 water restrictions must be followed across Melbourne and penalties apply.

If you are issued with a warning notice and still breach the restrictions, you may have your water supply restricted, receive a penalty infringement notice or face prosecution.

To report a breach, call 13 WATER (139 2837).

Greywater, rainwater and recycled water

Greywater, rainwater and recycled water can be used at any time. No restrictions apply to rainwater collected in a storage tank, provided it is not supplemented by the mains water supply. Visit EPA Victoria to find out more and access guidelines on safe water use.
