What's on City of Melbourne

Transport choices

By catching public transport, such as the 100 per cent accredited GreenPower tram, you’re making a positive impact on climate change.

Here’s how the City of Melbourne helps support green transport choices.

A connected city

In 2006, the City of Melbourne launched its 'Moving People and Freight Transport Strategy' that included:

  • actions and advocacy strategies to improve transport connections
  • sustainability
  • access in the municipality.

One of the key goals of Future Melbourne is to ensure that, by 2020, Melbourne is a city that’s connected.

This means Melbourne will be a city where all people can move about freely to communicate and trade – locally, regionally and globally – without sacrificing essential social or ecological values.
