Seniors neighbourhood centres
There are four seniors’ neighbourhood centres located in the City of Melbourne. A number of different seniors groups, including culturally diverse groups, meet to socialise and take part in activities at the centres. Activities are also available, such as tai chi, gentle exercise, bingo, entertainment, singing, indoor bowls, art and craft, cards and movies. A full listing of what’s on is available in the Out and About newsletter.
A nutritious and affordable lunchtime meal is also available at each of the four centres. Meals are subsidised through the Home and Community Care program. The cost is $6.50. Bookings are essential.

Social outings: don’t gamble with your group
The social outings guide is a valuable resource for seniors groups interested in planning activities and outings that don’t involve gaming venues. It also has lots of great ideas and information that all older people can use. City of Melbourne is proud to support the North East Primary Care Partnership in the distribution of this guide. The Healthy Ageing Team has distributed copies to seniors groups meeting in the municipality and now have limited copies of the guide available in hard copy.
Alternatively, you can access the social outings guide in multiple community languages.
