What's on City of Melbourne

Getting around

Supported activity groups

Supported activity groups are available for people who want to attend a regular activity or social group but may need extra support. The groups can also provide a valuable break for people caring for a family member or loved one.

The City of Melbourne offers a choice of groups designed to meet individual needs. These groups can include transport to and from home, an activity or outing, a meal and support workers.

Currently there are groups for people of an Italian or Indo-Chinese background as well as for people from an English-speaking background.

Community transport program

The community transport program is available to clients who are not able to take public transport, to a range of local destinations including markets, shopping centres, senior citizens centres and recreation centres.

Community bus hire

A 12-seater bus is available for hire to seniors groups based in the City of Melbourne. Volunteer seniors groups can hire the bus free of charge but must pay for petrol.

Non-volunteer seniors groups can hire the bus for a set fee per day plus the cost of petrol. Groups will need to provide their own driver.
