Creating opportunities for positive ageing
With the number of city residents aged over 55 expected to increase by 75 per cent to almost 20,000 in less than a decade, the City of Melbourne has developed Lifelong Melbourne 2006–2016: creating opportunities for positive ageing in the City of Melbourne.
The plan caters for the interests and needs of this diverse group.

Action plan 2010–2013
The City of Melbourne is working to improve its services for older residents in line with the Lifelong Melbourne plan: creating opportunities for positive ageing. We have engaged with seniors in the community to develop a three-year action plan for 2010 to 2013. Take a look at what we aim to achieve:

Lifelong Melbourne: ensuring our place
Lifelong Melbourne: ensuring our place is a plan for residential and home-package aged care within the City of Melbourne. While the Commonwealth Government holds overall statutory responsibility for the policy, funding and administration of residential aged care services and most home-package services, the City of Melbourne has a pivotal role in promoting locally accessible and appropriate aged care for residents.
