The City of Melbourne is responsible for delivering municipal services to Docklands. Development in the precinct is the responsibility of VicUrban, the Victorian Government's sustainable urban development agency.

- Docklands library
$2.5 million is included in the new budget for a new Docklands library will include internet and wireless broadband access, DVDs, CDs and collections. Long-term, services are expected to include customer self-service facilities, reference and study areas, reading areas and dedicated zones for children, parents, young people and students. There would also be space for local history research, community activities and classrooms, as well as a City of Melbourne customer service centre.
The library project is a partnership between the City of Melbourne and VicUrban.

- Melbourne Docklands – Harbour Esplanade upgrade
VicUrban is improving Harbour Esplanade, which is the main pedestrian, cyclist, vehicle and public transport route between the northern and southern areas of Docklands.
- Department of Transport – Dynon Port Rail Link project – Footscray Road Overpass
Traffic conditions have changed on Footscray Road as part of the joint federal-state government’s Dynon Port Rail Link project.
- The Monash-CityLink-West Gate upgrade project
The Monash-CityLink-West Gate upgrade project is a partnership between VicRoads and Transurban.
