Will the new building be more energy efficient?
One of the major opportunities for the redevelopment is to upgrade energy efficiency and comfort levels. Other improvements include better insulation, double glazing, rainwater collection, solar hot water, low energy fittings, passive ventilation and energy efficient pool plant and systems.
Will the centre stay open during construction?
City of Melbourne aims to minimise disruption and inconvenience as much as possible during redevelopment which is why Family Services and Carlton Baths Community Centre group exercise classes will be relocated to near-by areas during centre closure and construction.
Carlton Baths Community Centre members will have the opportunity to take advantage of City of Melbourne’s reciprocal rights program. This has now been extended to include access to health club and group fitness at City of Melbourne’s other recreation facilities including Melbourne City Baths, North Melbourne Recreation Centre and Kensington Community Recreation Centre.
