Melbourne Music Week
Melbourne Music Week was established in 2010 to celebrate and support our city’s thriving independent music scene. Returning in 2011 with a refined artistic direction and a strengthened approach to supporting the industry, the second annual Melbourne Music Week partnered with the city's music industry heavyweights to showcase some of the best emerging and established local and international talent on offer.
With more than 65 events throughout the week, the program is made up of high-quality, cutting-edge and diverse events staged at unique locations across the city. Events include live performances and DJ gigs, multidisciplinary projects, kids' programs, industry summits, workshops, seminars and much more.
Melbourne Music Week aims to empower the myriad individuals, businesses and organisations involved in the creation, support and celebration of music, uniting them under one umbrella. Record labels, record shops, cafes, bars, clothing stores and, of course, Melbourne’s iconic live music venues – the heartbeat of our local music scene – come together at this leading event. Melbourne Spring Fashion Week
Each year, Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) ushers in the changing season with a full-to-bursting program of events, celebrating Melbourne's fashion-city status and fostering innovation, education and growth in the industry.
Designed to celebrate the diversity of fashion, design and culture that is synonymous with Melbourne, city residents and visitors alike are invited to engage with fashion – from the burgeoning talent of our students and new designers, to the captivating collections from our country's most revered labels and established designers.
With high-calibre runways at the MSFW Designer Series, industry-focused discussions at the MSFW Business Series, the rising stars of fashion on show in MSFW Emerging Designer Series, and a constant rotation of free runways, workshops and activities at MSFW@City Square, the event caters to a wide audience of the fashion-knowledgeable and novices alike.
In 2012, MSFW celebrated its 18th birthday with over 150 free and ticketed events across the city, and the launch of the first-ever MSFW mobile app – keeping users in the loop with events and activities, and providing a vital link between consumers and city retailers.
Stay tuned to MSFW to find out how you can be involved with the event in 2013!

New Year’s Eve
Each year, more than half a million people flock to the centre of our magnificent city to celebrate Melbourne's official New Year’s Eve event.
One of Melbourne’s most prestigious events, New Year’s Eve fires the imagination and stirs the passions of Melburnians and visitors alike, with several areas around the city offering free entertainment and activities for all ages in an alcohol-free atmosphere.
The evening hosts two dazzling fireworks displays: an Early Eve show for families at 9.30pm, and a midnight display to welcome in the new year. The midnight display sees fireworks launched from rooftops across the city, meaning the spectacle can be viewed anywhere with a view of the city skyline.
