The 2013 Community Services grants program is available to not-for-profit organisations seeking to undertake projects in 2013. The program creates opportunities for our community to join in and enjoy city life and contribute to Melbourne’s safety, health and happiness.
Last year’s Community Services grants program allocated approximately $778,000. Details of projects funded in the past are available online.
Category 8: Indigenous grants
Please note: while all other categories for 2013 Community Services grants have specific opening and closing dates, Indigenous grants can be considered for funding all year round.
- Open to: not-for-profit organisations (both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous)
- Grants for: eligible projects and activities that contribute to improved cultural, social and economic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and that promote reconciliation.
- Grant value: up to $10,000
Indigenous grants are awarded to community groups who will deliver projects supporting improved cultural, social, and economic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Victorians. Eligible community groups may be Indigenous or non-Indigenous, but activities must take place within the City of Melbourne boundaries.
Your project must support one or more of the following themes:
- celebration and / or promotion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and people (e.g. events planned around Sorry Day, Reconciliation Week, or NAIDOC Week)
- education, training or employment opportunities which support improved economic development
- health and wellbeing initiatives
- supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community participation in themed events within the City of Melbourne (e.g. Dreamtime at the ‘G and NAIDOC Week activities)
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community partnerships which focus on any of the above mentioned themes.
Specific terms and conditions
- Indigenous grants applications can be considered for funding all year round and do not have specific open and closed dates
- Applications will continue to be considered whilst there is funding available within any given financial year
- All applicants are required to discuss their application with the Senior Indigenous Policy Officer prior to submitting an application
- Applicants will be made aware of the outcome of their submission within six weeks after their application being received.
