Community Safety grants

The 2013 Community Services grants program is available to not-for-profit organisations seeking to undertake projects in 2013. The program creates opportunities for our community to join in and enjoy city life and contribute to Melbourne’s safety, health and happiness.

Last year’s Community Services grants program allocated approximately $778,000. Details of projects funded in the past are available online

Category 6: Community Safety grants

  • Open to: not-for-profit organisations 
  • Grants for: eligible projects that contribute to ensuring the municipality remains a safe and welcoming place to live in and visit, day and night
  • Grant value: up to $10,000

Community Safety grants are awarded to projects that match the priority areas and goals within City of Melbourne’s Strategy for a Safer City, and Policy for the 24-Hour City. Proposed projects must address one or more of the priority areas and goals outlined below or contained within the Policy for the 24-Hour City.

Strategy for a Safer City priority areas and goals

  • People: people are proud of the municipality of Melbourne, participate in city life and have a shared responsibility for Melbourne's reputation as a safe and liveable place.
  • Places: Melbourne is a municipality of safe, inviting and diverse places which are connected and accessible, day and night.
  • Partnerships: the City of Melbourne's key partners share a commitment to and responsibility for Melbourne's status as a safe and liveable community.

Policy for the 24 Hour City priority areas

  • activation and cultural context through the development of safe, inclusive, and vibrant areas and activities that respects competing needs and differences within the 24 hour city.
  • partnerships with service providers, traders and businesses, local residents, and the three tiers of government to ensure a holistic and consultative approach is taken to addressing the issues associated with the 24 hour city.
