Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan

The City of Melbourne’s Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan has been fully integrated with the new four year Council Plan. A total of thirty eight public health and wellbeing objectives have been identified and highlighted within this plan.

Council Plan 2009–2013

The plan reflects national, state and regional health priorities. The health objectives are underpinned by the principles of public health planning, such as the World Health Organisation's Ottawa Charter within the context of the Environments for Health Planning framework..

This integration, as supported by recent amendments to legislation, demonstrates Council’s commitment to addressing public health and wellbeing as policy priorities. You can see the amendments at the Victorian Government's Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.

Public Toilet Plan

Municipal toilet facilities play an important role in the community. They must be well-located, clean and accessible.

The Public Toilet Plan 2008-2013 sets out the City of Melbourne’s intentions over the next five years and proposes to:

  • upgrade above ground public toilets
  • improve way-finding signage for public toilets
  • gradually close underground toilets and replace with above ground facilities
  • design a new three-cubical stainless steel toilet for park visitors

View the Public Toilet Plan 2008–2013. The plan also includes a list of all public toilet locations.
