The City of Melbourne is putting out the call to clever and creative designers to answer the question Business: why Melbourne? and enter its Infographic competition which opens today.
The competition challenges entrants to merge information and graphic design to create an easy to read, 2D Infographic that tells the story Business: why Melbourne? tapping into the innovation, knowledge base and potential for investment and prosperity in the city.
The winner will get 2013 off to a great start, taking home a $2013 cash prize, and their work will take pride of place in the City of Melbourne’s Enterprise Melbourne initiatives.
City of Melbourne CEO, Dr Kathy Alexander said discovering and fostering talent was a driving force behind the Business: why Melbourne? infographic competition.
“We know Melbourne is a great city for business. The challenge for entrants is to use a selection of key facts and figures that we will provide to tell that story to the world in a compelling way.
“An infographic is the perfect approach, communicating data, statistics and accolades in an accessible way using graphics and visuals.
“This competition is open to everyone and we especially encourage students and up-and-coming designers to submit eye-catching entries that draw on what is iconic about Melbourne. As an organisation we pride ourselves in supporting emerging talent,” Dr Alexander said.
The facts and figures cover Melbourne’s achievements, the city’s make-up, Melbourne’s strengths in knowledge and innovation, and a snapshot of the city’s business and cultural elements.
Dr Alexander together with Manager of Research Austin Ley and Business Consultant Helen Ward will make up the judging panel and select five finalist.
The winner will then be chosen through a public online vote.
Entrants have until 24 January 2013 to make their submissions and the winner will be announced on 15 February.
