What's on City of Melbourne

Protocol

Protocol supporting decision-making structures and City representation roles

In addition to adopting a Councillor Code of Conduct (which is required under the Local Government Act 1989), the Council, on 27 October 2009, adopted a streamlined set of Protocol that further defines roles and responsibilities of Councillors and Council officers in areas relating to decision-making structures and city representation roles. The Protocol replaces the Good Governance Charter adopted by the previous Council.

The Protocol provides greater clarity and guidance on areas such as the role of Committee Chair, Director designated to support each Committee, media, spokesperson and other city representation roles. It also provides enhanced guidance on preparation of reports for Committee and Council.

Employee Code of Conduct

The purpose of the City of Melbourne's Code of Conduct is to make clear to employees the City of Melbourne’s expectations of their conduct.

The code is for all employees of the Council, but it also applies to the service providers, representatives and agents who act on behalf of the City of Melbourne.
