Sticks and Stones (drawing and making)

Make a bird’s nest or a leafy orangutan pad or draw a Bilby’s underground burrow. Pretend you are a possum - what would your cosy drey look like?

Tai's upcoming children’s book 'Sticks and Stones- animal homes' is all about how animals build their different shelters, nests and burrows. Tai will read sections from her new book and show you the original water colour and pencil illustrations.

Toddler with rattle The world is an adventure of instruments just waiting to be discovered. Sound artists Alice and Nigel lead the expedition, tapping, rubbing and singing into everything around to find exciting sounds. Even Mum and Dad are making funny noises!

Curious Dads

Father and toddler playingWhat's that, Baby?! Bring your Dad into a world of surprising sounds, curious spaces and unusual tactile objects. As you travel through it, there'll be lots to explore, push, roll over and play with.

Artist Emma Salzano will guide fathers and their babies through a movement and play experience in a weird and wonderful installation. You are sure to surprise and delight each other with your responses.

This workshop is for dads (or male carers) and children.

Territorial (movement)

Artist: Sally Chance

Woman watching child danceYou are invited to join Sally Chance (creator of This Baby Life) to play with her musician and dancers as they develop a new work for 2 and 3 year olds, where the children are both the audience and the participants.

The children will experience separate sections of the performance, developing their own dance as they react to the different objects presented to them and the different ways the performers interact with them.

The final work hopes to use a dance vocabulary generated by children, where they themselves trigger the order of the performed events – making it different each time!

You and your baby will be invited to shake your way through song, dance and game, but first you must find those eggs!

Be part of something truly magical and join Victorian Opera in this interactive workshop for When Moon Dust Falls. Help them create a brand new work for young children inspired by themes of the moon, sleep and dreaming.

This workshop will explore the sounds, images and stories that children and parents share during the experience of falling asleep.

Dancing Rhymes (movement and singing)

Father and daughter under pink umbrellaMemorable nursery rhymes and lullabies will come to life as we sing and dance together.

Simple and playful dances will be shared to accompany our singing of familiar songs. Your baby will love and admire your playfulness as you animate the songs they know and love. We will also learn some new songs to add to your repertoire and inspire your singing and dancing together at home. 

This workshop will be fun and playful as well as gentle and relaxing. You don’t need to be a confident singer to join in, so don’t be shy about bringing your voice, as it’s the one your baby already knows and loves.
