Building Code of Australia mandatory energy efficiency measures

Mandatory energy efficiency provisions have been introduced to the Building Code of Australia for all building classes and these measures are scheduled to be increased in the 2010 update of the code.

Building owners need to be aware of the provisions that apply to any retrofit or refurbishment works they undertake.

Visit Australian Building Codes Board to download information about energy efficiency.

Mandatory disclosure of building energy efficiency

The Federal Government is developing a national scheme which will require the energy efficiency of all commercial buildings to be disclosed at the time of sale or lease.

The intent of this program is that potential buyers or tenants can compare the energy efficiency of different buildings on a like for like basis.

Visit the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts for more information on mandatory disclosure of commercial building energy efficiency.
